A solitary plum blossom branch curves around one side of the teapot, the delicate blossoms and branches hand-painted in shades of cobalt.
Four characters are scribed on the opposite side: “He Jing Qing Ji" or "Harmony, Respect, Clarity, Solitary." Taken together, the phrase is a Chinese idiom describing the purpose of tea making and ceremony.
The teapot itself is one of the smallest of our Paper Porcelain wares. Our Plum Blossom teapot is, dare we say, cute. Its body resembles a slightly flattened globe, topped with a lid that follows the lines of the teapot.
Hand-crafted in Jingdezhen, each piece is shaped by hand with hollow handles, hand-painted in cobalt oxide under a glossy translucent glaze, then high-fired to produce its classic blue hue. Our paper porcelain tea pots are a blend of old and new, crafted and hand painted in the Ming Dynasty tradition with a modern aesthetic.
