A pear shaped teapot, crafted of paper thin porcelain. On one side, intertwined bamboo branches and leaves are painted by hand in serene shades of cobalt blue. The branches begin on the body of the teapot and continue into the lid.
On the opposite side are four Chinese characters "Gao Feng Liang Jie". Translated literally, the four characters are "High Wind Bright Season" - but the phrase is actually a Chinese idiom synonymous with ethics or integrity.
The shape of this teapot is wonderfully delicate and refined. The base of the teapot is wide and tapers gradually upwards towards the lid. The perfectly shaped spout rises to the same height as the base of the lid and the handle artfully flares at the top.
Hand-crafted in Jingdezhen, each piece is shaped by hand with hollow handles, hand-painted in cobalt oxide under a glossy translucent glaze, then high-fired to produce its classic blue hue. Our paper porcelain tea pots are a blend of old and new, crafted and hand painted in the Ming Dynasty tradition with a modern aesthetic.
