One of two paper porcelain gaiwans we commissioned from Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province in 2011. Hand-crafted of thin high-fired porcelain. Thin enough to appear translucent when held against the light.
A sibling to the wider bodied Summer gaiwan, the Spring version is tall, with slightly more angular lines. The silhouette is very traditional, with a very gradual outward flare. The drop of the brewing vessel angles abruptly and almost horizontally towards the foot, which nestles perfectly into the dish beneath.
This teapot is perfect for oolongs, but can be used to brew any kind of tea.
