From Zhejiang, grey-green late harvest green tea leaves are rolled to form gunpowder pellets.
Full bodied, exceptionally assertive and pungent tea with a persistent bitterness...definitely for those who prefer their tea stronger. Gunpowder is also the traditional base tea used in mint tea preparations in Morocco.

Late harvest rolled green teas are somewhat difficult to brew. Water temperature needs to be high enough to open the rolls, but not so high to accentuate the astringency of a later harvest.
We recommend using water that's higher than what is usually recommended for early harvest greens, but brewing shorter infusions. Alternatively, try to brew your own mint tea by combining gunpowder with fresh mint and sugar.
