Anxi is the birthplace of Tikuanyin, or "Iron Goddess of Mercy", a variety of tea leaf that is crafted into oolongs of intense fragrance and rich complexity. The leaf itself is said to be heavy like iron and shaped like the Bodhisattva.

Our selection of Tikuanyins represent two very distinct styles of tea crafting. What we call our Jade Kuan Yins are lightly oxidized and low fired, representing a method of crafting developed a little more than eight years ago. Darker, higher oxidized and higher fired teas we call "Iron Goddess of Mercy". These represent more traditional crafting methods that are fast becoming obsolete even in Anxi. No two Tikuanyins are alike, but each in our collection is worth enjoying.
